Ukraine returns another six children from occupation
Ukraine has successfully brought back six more children from the temporarily occupied Kherson region — two girls and four boys aged 8 to 16, according to Oleksandr Prokudin, head of Kherson regional military administration.
"From the currently occupied left bank of the region, volunteers managed to return six children — two girls and four boys, ages 8 to 16," Prokudin shared.
Among those returned is a guardian family caring for a girl deprived of parental care. Her adult brother was also evacuated alongside her.
"Thanks to a rescue operation conducted by the organization 'Save Ukraine,' these children can now leave behind the horrors they endured, including being forced to attend so-called 'Russian schools,' which have far more in common with hostile propaganda than with actual education," said the regional head.
Since the beginning of the year, 224 children have been successfully evacuated from occupation in the Kherson region, he added.
Deportation and return of Ukrainian children
Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russian forces have been deporting Ukrainian children en masse, taking them to Belarus, Russia, and parts of occupied Crimea.
According to Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, Russia has unlawfully deported over 19,000 Ukrainian children.
This mass deportation of Ukrainian children prompted the International Criminal Court in The Hague to issue arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russia’s Commissioner for Children's Rights, Maria Lvova-Belova.
