Ukraine requested new types of weaponry from the U.S.
Ukraine has requested new types of weaponry from the United States for the successful repulsion of Russian aggression, including F-18 fighter jets, drones, Apache attack helicopters, and others, according to Reuters.
It is reported that representatives of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense presented a list of armaments to meet the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces during a closed meeting in Washington, attended by government officials and leaders of the U.S. defense industry.
According to sources familiar with the list, it includes samples of weaponry that Ukraine already has in its arsenal, including Abrams tanks and 155mm artillery, as well as F-16 aircraft, drones, and long-range ATACMS missiles.
However, the list also features several new items, including transport aircraft such as the Boeing-manufactured C-17 Globemaster and Lockheed Martin's C-130 Super Hercules. The list also includes attack helicopters Apache and Black Hawk.
The documents also state that Ukraine is requesting F-18 fighter jets from the U.S., three types of drones from General Atomics, including the MQ-9B Sky Guardian, and the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) anti-aircraft defense system manufactured by Lockheed.
What proceeded this
Yesterday, on December 6, the United States announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine. It includes weaponry worth $175 million.
Moreover, back in October, U.S. President Joe Biden requested Congress to allocate over $100 billion for national security needs. This amount includes over $60 billion for financing assistance to Ukraine.
