Ukraine reports over 50 clashes amid Putin's ceasefire, says it responds same way

Ukrainian military has already recorded over 50 combat clashes on the frontline, despite the latest ceasefire declared by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Ukraine's Defense Forces respond same way to the occupiers' actions, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing Spokesperson for the Khortytsia Operational-Strategic Group of Ukrainian troops, Nazar Voloshyn.
"I will not comment on the political aspect of the so-called ceasefire declared by the Russian dictator. That is beyond our competence. However, I must state the fact that in our area of operational responsibility within the Khortytsia Operational-Strategic Group, as of 11:30 a.m. today, more than 50 combat clashes with the enemy have been recorded," Ukrainian military noted.
Voloshyn emphasized that the invaders' assault actions occurred across almost all sectors of the front. However, most of the clashes were recorded in key directions - Pokrovsk and Novopavlivka.
The spokesperson added that Ukrainian forces respond in the same way to the actions of the Russian troops as part of the defensive operation.
"In all cases, as part of the defensive operation, our defenders respond similarly to all challenges and threats posed by the Russian army that endanger the lives and health of Ukrainian soldiers," Voloshyn said.
Putin's ceasefire for May 9
Earlier, the Kremlin announced a so-called truce from May 8 to May 10. During these days, leaders and delegations from other countries arrived in Russia to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. Tomorrow, May 9, a large parade is scheduled to take place in Moscow.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine had long ago agreed to the ceasefire proposal put forward by the United States. However, Zelenskyy stressed that the ceasefire should be for 30 days, not just three, as the Kremlin wants.
Nevertheless, despite the proclaimed truce, Russia intensified airstrikes on Sumy region last night and this morning.
