Ukraine repels Russian air assault: Over 60 drones and missiles launched
Russia launches two missiles and over 60 drones at Ukraine overnight on January 25. Ukraine's air defense forces shot down all missiles and most of the drones, the Ukrainian Air Forces reports.
"Overnight on January 25, the enemy attacked with two guided aviation missiles, Kh-59/Kh-69, launched from airspace over the Black Sea," the statement reads.
Additionally, the occupiers launched 61 strike UAVs of the Shahed type and imitation drones of various types from the directions of Oryol, Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
Air Defense efforts
The air assault was countered by anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups of the Air Force, and Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
"As of 9:30 AM Kyiv time, the confirmed downing of two guided aviation missiles Kh-59/Kh-69 and 46 strike UAVs of the Shahed type and other drones has been recorded," the Air Force noted.
Additionally, 15 enemy imitation drones were lost from radar detection.
Air defense systems were active in the Odesa, Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Khmelnytskyi, and Kirovohrad regions.
Consequences of Russia's attack on Ukraine
The downed Russian drones caused damage in the Kyiv, Cherkasy, and Khmelnytskyi regions. Buildings of enterprises, institutions, apartment blocks, private homes, and vehicles were damaged.
In particular, a drone struck a multi-story building in Vyshneve. Five people, including children, were rescued from it. In Cherkasy, the Russian drone attack caused partial power outages.
