The Ukrainian government has decided to reject US President Donald Trump’s peace plan to end the war with Russia. There is a very specific reason for this, according to the New York Post.

According to journalists, Kyiv is not satisfied with Trump’s 28-point peace plan.

Ukraine is currently seeking a new agreement with Russia, as the situation on the battlefield has changed.

Despite this, no meetings are currently planned to discuss a specific peace agreement. This is a significant change compared to last year, when the negotiation process was much more active.

Ukraine’s Ambassador to the US, Olha Stefanishyna, states that this situation is linked to Ukraine’s improved position on the front lines. According to her, this allows Kyiv to take a more creative approach to ending the war.

The Ukrainian government also hopes to capitalize on US President Donald Trump’s frustration with Vladimir Putin's actions. This will make it possible to increase pressure on the Kremlin.

Kyiv believes that to end the war, it is necessary to shift the balance of pressure on Moscow, rather than negotiate yet another version of the same peace proposal.

Stefanishyna confirms that Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump may discuss these issues during their meeting at the NATO summit in Ankara.

Incidentally, Trump’s 28-point peace plan, among other things, called for the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the unoccupied areas of Donbas, as well as Ukraine’s renunciation of NATO membership.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about his mood ahead of his meeting with Donald Trump.

On July 8, the Presidents of Ukraine and the United States will hold talks on the sidelines of the NATO summit. The focus will be on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense.

Europe has reservations about the outcome of the meeting between Zelenskyy and Trump.
