Ukraine rejects Russian demands, says 'denazification' must start in Moscow

Ukraine rejects Russia's conditions for a peace agreement, stating that true "denazification" must begin in Moscow, according to Heorhii Tykhyi, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
"Proper "denazification" must begin from Moscow, given its treatment of other ethnic groups — Azerbaijanis and the rest of the South Caucasus, Central Asia, Ukrainians, Crimean Tatars, and others," said Tykhyi.
According to him, the warlike rhetoric of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov shows that Russia is rejecting peace efforts and instead resorting to 2022-style ultimatums.
"We urge partners to hit these Russian "denazifiers" with new, tough sanctions without delay to bring them back to reality," emphasized the Foreign Ministry spokesperson.
Absurd conditions from Russia
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated in an interview with the Hungarian newspaper Magyar Nemzet that Ukraine must allegedly enshrine its "denazification" and "demilitarization" in a peace agreement with Russia.
In addition, according to him, Kyiv should drop all legal claims against Russia, lift sanctions, and return frozen Russian assets.
Lavrov also claimed that the "Kyiv regime" allegedly does not represent the population of southeastern Ukraine — including Crimea, Sevastopol, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson.
At the same time, Lavrov said Russia allegedly remains open to a political and diplomatic resolution of the war — but it must be a "lasting peace," not just a ceasefire.
