Today, on December 12, another shipment of energy assistance has departed from Azerbaijan to Ukraine. It consists of 20 trucks carrying over 550 meters of electrical cables and 6 sets of transformer stations, according to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

"The current assistance for the restoration of the energy system from Baku has become the third batch for Ukraine.

The Ministry specifies that the total amount of energy assistance from Azerbaijani partners will exceed $7.6 million.

What's included in the third aid package

Within this new batch of assistance, they expect:

  • power and oil transformers,
  • electric transformer substations,
  • high-quality cabinets,
  • wires,
  • cables,
  • and other equipment necessary for the operation of fuel and energy complex companies.

Energy assistance from Azerbaijan

The first batch of aid, comprising 10 shipments from Azerbaijan, included power transformers and backup power stations. It had already been distributed among energy companies in regions most affected by hostile Russian shelling, specifically in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Sumy, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolaiv regions. Equipment was also provided to companies in the Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, and Lviv regions.

Additionally, equipment from Azerbaijan was directed towards the needs of the transmission system operator and the extraction sector. The Ministry of Energy clarified that the second batch of 37 shipments would be distributed shortly.

"Overall, the agreement envisages four stages of cargo shipments, expected to arrive in Ukraine by the end of January 2024," according to the Ministry of Energy.

Earlier reports indicated that at the end of November, Azerbaijan handed over a mine-clearing vehicle, Revival P, to Ukrainian rescuers.
