Ukrainian forces have received Swedish-made Giraffe radar systems capable of detecting various types of drones, aircraft, and cruise missiles, according to Ukraine's Defense Ministry.

The Giraffe radar systems were developed by the Swedish company Saab. They combine radar surveillance capabilities with an integrated command, control, and communications system, allowing threats to be detected quickly and appropriate responses to be coordinated.

Saab's radar stations monitor airspace and detect aerial targets at ranges of up to 100 kilometers and altitudes of up to 20 kilometers, depending on the radar variant. They can detect a wide range of objects, from supersonic fighter jets, cruise missiles, and helicopters to slow-moving and low-altitude UAVs.

Depending on the variant, the station can be deployed on different platforms: as a fixed installation, on trucks, tracked vehicles, and pickup trucks, enabling the creation of a flexible radar reconnaissance system.

The system is capable of simultaneously monitoring airspace, detecting targets for air defense systems, and identifying artillery and mortar fire.

The radar features a high data refresh rate, with a target reacquisition time of just one second. This provides an up-to-date picture of the air situation in real time.

The system can be deployed in less than 10 minutes and packed up in less than 5 minutes. In addition, it can be equipped with a surface target detection capability for maritime environments, as well as specialized counter-UAV features.

Earlier, Ukraine had developed the unique DART missile, which is launched directly from stratospheric balloons. The key feature of the development is its complete resistance to enemy electronic warfare systems.

The missile is lifted into the sky using special balloons, and launches take place at high altitudes ranging from 12 to 18 kilometers. Special servo drives ensure activation accuracy. They maintain a stable flight trajectory. The system operates reliably under any release conditions.
