The first shipment of American liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Poland arrived in Ukraine this year. The volume of the shipment is almost 100 million cubic meters, according to Naftogaz of Ukraine.
The delivery was organized in partnership with the Polish state-owned company ORLEN.
"The volume delivered is almost 100 million cubic metres - enough to provide gas to about 700,000 families for one month during the winter period. The LNG tanker was en route for 20 days. The gas was received in late January at the LNG terminal in Świnoujście (Poland). After regasification, the resource is now available for Ukraine’s needs," the statement says.
According to forecasts, in 2026, US LNG supplies to Ukraine could reach 1 billion cubic meters, which will be a significant contribution to the stable operation of the country's energy system in wartime conditions.
Gas imports to Ukraine
Earlier, operators agreed on a phased increase in the throughput capacity for gas imports from Poland to Ukraine from the beginning of February.
By the end of April, the capacity of this route will increase from 15.3 million cubic meters to 18.4 million cubic meters per day.
At the end of January, daily gas imports to Ukraine had already increased from 26 million to over 30 million cubic meters thanks to supplies from Slovakia and Poland.
Earlier, the government also agreed on a 50% discount for gas transportation through Greece for further import to the Ukrainian border.
In 2025, the Naftogaz Group imported 5.7 billion cubic meters of gas to ensure the heating season.
