Ukrainian soldiers began to use Cheetah systems to protect the airspace from enemy targets. This is an analog of the German Gepard, according to the West Air Command of the Air Force of Ukraine.

The military reported that this anti-aircraft gun is equipped with two 35-millimeter cannons. There are also radar stations on board for tracking and searching for targets and guidance.

The third important component, according to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, is the onboard computer. It analyzes all the parameters of the target and provides targeting.

Currently, Cheetah systems target Russian attack drones and cruise missiles as part of the air defense forces of the Western Air Command.

On June 2, during a Russian missile and air strike on critical infrastructure, anti-aircraft missile units, aviation and mobile fire groups of the Western Air Command destroyed 18 X-101/X-555 and Kalibr cruise missiles and 6 Shahed-131/136 attack drones in their area of responsibility.

What is known about these systems

The Cheetah looks identical to the German Gepard, but the Cheetah was in service in the Dutch army.

However, in 2013, the Dutch Ministry of Defense sold 60 Cheetah systems to Jordan. Last November, it became known that the United States had bought 60 Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft systems from Jordan to send to Ukraine.
