The Embassy of Sweden in Ukraine has announced a new decision by the Swedish government to allocate €56 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. The funds are intended for the restoration of damaged infrastructure and strengthening the resilience of the energy system, according to a post by the Embassy of Sweden in Ukraine on Facebook.

The diplomatic mission specified that following this decision, Stockholm's total contribution to the fund has exceeded €259 million.

Funds will be directed towards infrastructure restoration

The embassy noted that the allocated financing will be used to restore energy infrastructure facilities damaged as a result of attacks.

Furthermore, the funds will help strengthen the resilience of the energy system and prepare it for the next heating season.

Support amid attacks on the energy sector

The diplomatic mission emphasized that the aid is aimed at strengthening the country's energy security in the face of constant strikes on critical infrastructure.

The embassy stated that Ukraine, together with its partners, continues to restore vital facilities, is preparing for the next winter, and is working to ensure that the energy system remains resilient even under conditions of regular shelling and attacks.

As a reminder, Nordic countries are preparing evacuation plans for their populations in the event of the outbreak of military hostilities. Germany, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, and Denmark have joined the Nordic agreement.
