Ukraine ready to freeze front line provided security guarantees are in place - US Ambassador to NATO

Ukraine is likely ready to freeze the war with Russia along the current front line if it is provided with reliable security guarantees, US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said on Fox Business.
"Ukraine has proven and demonstrated that they're willing to make a deal. They're willing to freeze the front line if they get security guarantees. I think there's a framework for a deal. And now we just need to make sure it happens," Whitaker said.
The ambassador added that the most important issue right now is providing Ukraine with security guarantees and the ability to defend itself. According to him, the presence of European soldiers in Ukraine is important to ensure these security guarantees.
Whitaker emphasized that such guarantees would give Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy the ability to make a deal. And if he is confident that the war will not resume, "he's much more likely to make the deal he needs to make."
"I've never really paid much attention to Vladimir Putin (Russian President - ed.) and his reasons for the war. I think a lot of them are based on a very confused version of history and how the countries came to be. But nonetheless, I think we're going to have to have both sides agree, and whatever that agreement is, whether it's protecting Russian churches in Ukraine, Russian-speaking citizens of Ukraine. I mean, I think there is a framework right now," the ambassador said.
Freezing the war
Earlier, an adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Mykhailo Podolyak, acknowledged that freezing the front line is one of the options for ending the war with Russia.
According to him, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is already discussing such a scenario with the leaders of partner countries.
At the same time, the Ukrainian president himself has mentioned a Korean scenario for Ukraine, which essentially implies freezing the war.
