Ukraine pushes to seal free trade pact with Türkiye

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the draft law “On Ratification of the Free Trade Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Türkiye,” according to government parliamentary representative Taras Melnychuk on Telegram.
The document proposes ratifying the Free Trade Agreement between the Governments of Ukraine and Türkiye, originally signed on February 3, 2022.
Melnychuk noted that implementing the agreement will:
- promote further development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two countries;
- allow Ukrainian producers to benefit from the liberalization of Türkiye’s goods and services markets;
- open opportunities for Ukrainian businesses to expand sales markets and modernize their production.
The Free Trade Agreement was signed in Kyiv on February 3, 2022, with Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in attendance.
The agreement provides for the mutual, gradual elimination of import duties on industrial and agricultural goods.
In May 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the document and submitted it to the Verkhovna Rada.
