Ukraine is preparing new steps to increase pressure on Russia while also analyzing information about the Kremlin’s possible preparations for additional mobilization measures, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the Ukrainian side is working on new restrictive measures against Russia.
The measures involve expanding pressure tools aimed at reducing the level of Russian aggression.
“We are preparing to expand the geography of our long-range sanctions, which have already proven highly effective, and to intensify pressure on Russia to reduce its aggression,” the president said.
According to Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian authorities continue analyzing the Kremlin’s actions and are considering various scenarios for further developments.
Kyiv assesses possibility of new Russian mobilization
The president also commented on reports that Russia is preparing new mobilization measures, under which it could allegedly attempt to recruit an additional 100,000 people.
“We have taken note of information regarding preparations in Russia for new mobilization steps — an additional 100,000 people,” Zelenskyy said.
At the same time, the head of state stressed that, according to the Ukrainian side’s assessment, Russia currently lacks sufficient capacity to carry out a covert mobilization campaign on such a scale.
President’s Office expects other Kremlin moves
Against this backdrop, Kyiv believes the Russian authorities could resort to other political steps.
“We should expect Russian political decisions of a different format, including ones similar to the recent developments concerning Moldova’s Transnistria region,” the Ukrainian president noted.
Zelenskyy did not specify what exact decisions he was referring to.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia had intensified attempts to drag Belarus deeper into the war against Ukraine. According to him, Moscow discussed the issue with Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko.
It is also worth noting that Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi previously stated that Russia has now been suffering personnel losses exceeding mobilization rates for five consecutive months. According to him, units of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces play a significant role in increasing Russian army losses.
