Ukraine PM calls US and EU to impose tough sanctions on Russia oil giants

The US and the European Union must cut off Russia's oil revenues. In particular, restrictions are needed against Russian oil giants, said Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
At the invitation of US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, Svyrydenko took part in a meeting of US and EU representatives. It was opened by US President Donald Trump. The event was part of negotiations aimed at strengthening transatlantic unity.
The Prime Minister welcomed the efforts of international partners aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
According to Svyrydenko, sanctions have already had a significant impact on the Russian economy — it has lost more than 160 billion dollars.
"I called on our partners to continue jointly increasing pressure by introducing tough sanctions against the shadow fleet, oil giants, refineries, traders, and other intermediaries. Only decisive measures can reduce Russia's resources for waging war against Ukraine and put an end to daily Russian crimes and terror," she added.
New EU sanctions
The European Union is already preparing the 19th package of sanctions against Russia. According to media rumors, the European Commission will present the new restrictions by Friday, September 12.
At the same time, Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that the new package of sanctions will include restrictions against Russian energy, crypto exchanges, and the payment system.
