Ukraine offers Poland drones in exchange for MiG-29 fighter jets

Ukraine has offered to trade Ukrainian drones for Poland's MiG-29 fighter jets, Polish Deputy Defense Minister Paulina Sobkowiak-Czarnecka said, according to PAP.
As Sobkowiak-Czarnecka explained, the new proposal from the team of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is very specific.
Under the proposal, Warsaw would transfer its fighter jets to Kyiv and receive Ukrainian drones in return.
At the same time, she said the Polish government is not currently considering a scenario in which Warsaw would pay for the modernization of those fighter jets.
"A concrete response from the Ukrainian side regarding what drones they can provide in exchange for the MiG aircraft has been on the table for several days," Sobkowiak-Czarnecka confirmed.
Journalists also asked why Warsaw is not selling its MiG-29 fighter jets to Bulgaria, which wants to buy them.
The Polish deputy defense minister explained that negotiations on the acquisition of the fighter jets were initially launched with Kyiv.
According to Sobkowiak-Czarnecka, Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz will decide after reviewing Ukraine's new proposal.
She also assured that the decision would be made within the coming weeks.
Recently, Warsaw also suggested that its fighter jets might not end up in Ukraine.
Moreover, it became known that Poland had even considered decommissioning its MiG-29 fighter jets instead of transferring them to Kyiv.
