Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces have secured positions in Russia’s Kursk region and continued advancing deeper into the Belgorod region.

"I have just received a report from Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi. Today, our forces continued their activity on the territory of the Kursk region and are holding their positions," the president said.

At the same time, he noted Ukrainian military gains in the direction of Belgorod.

"In the Belgorod region, our warriors have advanced and expanded our zone of control," Zelenskyy stated.

Frontline situation

As of 4:00 PM Kyiv time, nearly 60 combat clashes had taken place since the beginning of the day. The most intense fighting was reported in the Pokrovsk and Kursk directions.

Earlier today, Ukraine’s General Staff reported that the Defense Forces of Ukraine were continuing operations in the Kursk region. According to their data, Russian troops have made gains in several areas over the past 24 hours.

Notably, over the past day, more than 1,000 Russian troops were eliminated. Ukrainian forces also destroyed:

  • 14 tanks;
  • 9 troop-carrying AFVs;
  • 70 artillery systems;
  • 3 anti-aircraft systems;
  • 111 UAV operational-tactical level;
  • 3 cruise missiles;
  • 208 vehicles and fuel tanks.
