Ukraine and Greece may sign a bilateral security agreement in the near future, according to the press service of the Presidential Office.

During a meeting with the Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic for Ukraine, Spyridon Lambridis, Ihor Zhovkva thanked Athens for its comprehensive assistance. In particular, he emphasized the importance of strengthening it in accordance with the current needs of Ukrainian soldiers.

The parties also discussed Greece's support for the Ukrainian “peace formula” and preparations for the Peace Summit that will take place in Switzerland soon.

"During the meeting, the interlocutors agreed to conclude negotiations on a bilateral security agreement so that Ukraine and Greece could sign it in the near future," the press service of the Presidential Office reports.

In particular, the parties discussed Greece's support for Ukraine on its path to the European Union (EU) and NATO.

Security guarantees

The main goal of security guarantees is to prevent future invasions until Ukraine becomes a full member of the Alliance. As of today, Kyiv has concluded agreements with Germany, France, Italy, Finland, the Netherlands, and Lithuania.

As President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted, Ukraine and Slovenia are already finalizing work on a bilateral security document. He will sign the agreement at the first opportunity.
