Ukrainian forces have liberated Andriivka in the border areas of the Sumy region and made gains in the Pokrovsk direction, says Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Zelenskyy said he had received a battlefield update from Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi on Friday, June 14. The briefing focused on frontline developments and Ukraine's ongoing offensive operations.

"Special and significant attention was paid to the Pokrovsk direction and the Sumy region — the border areas of our Sumy region. We've managed to drive Russian forces out of those positions. I want to thank all our units making this possible," he added.

Zelenskyy also praised the 225th Separate Assault Regiment. He said the unit deserves special recognition for its role over the past few days.

"In particular, for offensive actions in the Sumy border area and the liberation of Andriivka. Thank you very much, guys!" he said.

He also highlighted the 425th Separate Assault Regiment for successful operations in the Pokrovsk direction.

"Also, in the fighting in the Donetsk region, the 1st Separate Assault Regiment named after Dmytro Kotsiubailo and the 82nd Separate Air Assault Bukovynska Brigade stood out. Thank you! In the Kupiansk direction, the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade achieved good results. Thank you!" he added.

Zelenskyy also mentioned the Kursk operation.

"We are continuing active operations on enemy territory. The 33rd Separate Assault Regiment, the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade Magura, and the 103rd Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces all deserve recognition. Thank you for your bravery!" the President said.

Situation in the Sumy direction

Earlier on Friday, Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian forces had stabilized the situation in the Sumy direction and halted Russian advances.

He said the fiercest fighting during the day took place near Andriivka, Kindrativka, Oleksiivka, Kostiantynivka, and Yunakivka.

Since June 8, Russian troops have stepped up their attacks on the Sumy region.

At the same time, Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces are holding the line in the region and have pushed the enemy back slightly.
