Ukraine legitimately defends its territory - Slovak President
Ukraine is legitimately defending its territory from Russia, and its methods of defense are in line with the UN Charter, stated Slovak President Peter Pellegrini during his speech at the UN General Assembly.
He emphasized that Russia's war against Ukraine is happening in the immediate vicinity of Slovakia. The cause is Moscow’s aggression, which violated key principles of international law, such as sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Slovak leader said that Ukraine, Slovakia's neighbor, is legitimately defending its territory and people according to international law, including the UN Charter.
According to Pellegrini, the war not only destroys lives, infrastructure, and the future of Ukrainians but also brings no benefit to the Russians.
The President stressed that it is time to begin searching for a lasting, and just peace, grounded in international law and the UN Charter.
Background
