Ukraine launches training program for new SkyLock air defense systems

The Armed Forces of Ukraine, with the support of the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation, have launched a systematic instructor training program for operating SkyLock systems, which significantly improve the effectiveness of air defense, the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation's press service said.
The first training session has already taken place at one of the training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where service members from various Defense Forces units completed the program.
What is known about SkyLock
SkyLock is a hardware and software system designed to modernize the anti-aircraft artillery used by mobile fire groups. Using data from radar stations, it helps operators detect aerial targets more quickly and calculates the aiming point with the necessary lead using a ballistic calculator.

How many SkyLock systems are in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine?
Since 2025, 90 SkyLock systems have been delivered to Defense Forces units and are currently used by 18 units.
For the training program, the manufacturers provided SkyLock systems, sights, and other necessary components free of charge, while instructors with combat experience using these systems took part in the training.

Ukraine is discussing with the United States accelerating the delivery of Patriot missiles and launching the joint production of air defense systems. In particular, Ukraine is counting on Japan's support in establishing the production of Patriot systems under a United States license.
In addition, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced new appointments aimed at strengthening the country's air defense and outlined specific steps to accelerate key defense initiatives.
