Ukraine's position is now stronger than at any point since the start of the full-scale invasion, and the country is fully prepared for peace. To maintain this momentum, continued support from its international partners will be crucial, Finnish President Alexander Stubb says.

Discussion between two leaders

The Finnish president said he had held a productive conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The main topics of discussion were Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and the path forward.

Stubb stressed that maintaining momentum on both the diplomatic and military fronts depends directly on continued assistance from the international community.

"Ukraine's position is stronger than ever since the war began. Continued support from the partners is critical to keep up the momentum. Ukraine is ready for peace," the Finnish president said.

Stubb's remarks on Russia's war against Ukraine

Earlier, President Stubb said that Ukraine is in its strongest position since the start of the full-scale invasion thanks to intensified strikes on targets deep inside Russian territory.

According to him, this has significantly changed the strategic approach of Ukraine's Western allies, including the United States.

The Finnish leader also expressed confidence in Ukraine's future, noting that Russia has completely failed to achieve its strategic objectives. Stubb said he is certain that Ukraine will become a full member of both the European Union and NATO.

At the same time, he also commented on the likely duration of active fighting. In his view, the war in Ukraine could continue for several more months, while a direct Russian attack on NATO member states remains unlikely.
