Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the country’s military leadership has thoroughly analyzed the Russian army’s plans and has already determined further steps to counter them, according to a post by Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Telegram.
Assessment of the situation on the front
According to the head of state, the Ukrainian command has full information about the enemy’s intentions and key priorities. The data obtained allows for concrete decisions to be made regarding further actions on the battlefield.
"Today we had a detailed discussion with the military — there was a report by Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi and Chief of the General Staff Hnatov. We understand what the Russian army is planning and what their priorities are: there are relevant maps. There are details. We will counter this. The necessary forces and means have been determined," the president said.
The president also made a statement on sanctions and the ineffectiveness of diplomacy in stopping Russia.
"I also approved our next operations — Ukrainian long-range sanctions will work and will reduce Russia’s capabilities. The war must be brought to an end, and diplomacy alone will not bring it closer; pressure on the aggressor is needed to move the war toward its conclusion," Zelenskyy said.
Response to Russia’s actions
The president noted that a decrease in sanctions and political pressure from partners has partly contributed to the growing ambitions of the Russian side. In response, Ukraine is strengthening its own capabilities, including the use of drones and the intensification of units.
Next steps
Zelenskyy said that a list of upcoming operations has already been approved. Priority needs on the front have also been identified and are to be addressed in the near term.
The president also thanked Ukrainian service members for their results on the front line and emphasized the importance of their contribution to protecting the country and its citizens.
Zelenskyy stated that a potential withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions would be a strategic defeat for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, while Russia, according to him, is not demonstrating readiness to end the war on fair terms.
Zelenskyy also said Ukraine has restored the section of the Druzhba pipeline damaged by Russian strike, and it is now ready to resume operations.
