Soldiers of the Freedom of Russia Legion, who are helping to defend Ukraine, blew up an important railway artery of the Russian troops in the Zaporizhzhia region in November, according to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.
The intelligence reports that in November, an explosion occurred on the railway between the temporarily occupied villages of Vesele and Novouspenivka in the Zaporizhzhia region. This move cut off one of the enemy's key logistics arteries in the region.
As a result of the operation by the Freedom of Russia Legion, a 2M62 mainline locomotive and 25 freight cars were derailed. Traffic on this railway branch has been suspended.
"The successful operation by the intelligence officers was completed by an air strike by the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The air attack destroyed military cargo that had begun to accumulate nearby, awaiting the resumption of traffic," the HUR said.
Sabotage on Russian territory
In early November, Russia saw an increase in the number of fires and acts of sabotage at railway infrastructure facilities. According to the intelligence, a partisan movement is operating throughout the country, coordinating strikes on strategically important facilities.
In recent months, fires and explosions have occurred in the Bryansk, Rostov, and Murmansk regions, as well as in Chechnya and Karachay-Cherkessia. Similar actions are taking place not only in Russia, but also in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine - in Crimea and the Luhansk region - which complicates the enemy's logistics and reduces its military capabilities.
In early September, the intelligence, together with the Special Operations Forces, conducted an operation aimed at disrupting the railway connection of Russian troops in the Oryol-Kursk direction.
As a result of the explosion, railway connections of federal importance were halted. As of the evening of September 13, train traffic in this direction remained blocked, with more than 15 trains delayed.
