Ukraine initiates an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council due to today's Russian missile attack on Ukraine, in particular, the strike on the Okhmatdyt children's hospital in Kyiv, stated President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a joint press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk after the signing of a security agreement.

"Ukraine is now initiating the convening of an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council in connection with the Russian strike on civilian infrastructure, including the children's hospital," Zelenskyy said.

The President noted that Russia is already spreading false information that the strike on Okhmatdyt was caused by Ukrainian air defense, but there is evidence that it was a direct hit by an enemy missile.

Massive attack on Ukraine on July 8

Today, July 8, at about 9:40 a.m., the Russian army launched a missile attack on several regions of Ukraine. Currently, 28 deaths and 112 injuries have been reported.

During the massive missile attack, Russia launched 38 missiles of various types at Ukraine, 30 of which were destroyed by Ukrainian air defense.

In particular, the Russian forces struck the Okhmatdyt children's hospital in Kyiv, killing two people. There may still be people under the rubble.
