Ukraine holds out hope as EU talks remain on hold

Official Kyiv hopes for the opening of the first negotiation cluster in Ukraine’s EU accession process, despite Brussels' questionable stance, states Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, Olha Stefanishyna.
The minister noted that she expects the opening of the first cluster within the accession process.
“The partners commended Ukraine’s pace of reforms under the most difficult circumstances and invited to take the next steps in the accession process. It is confirmed that the 1st Cluster is ready to be opened,” she wrote.
EU Summit
The European Union leaders' summit is taking place in Brussels on June 26 and 27.
Following the first day of the meeting, 26 out of 27 EU member states expressed readiness to continue providing financial assistance to Ukraine and to do so in the long term.
Hungary did not support the decision. Officially, this means that the opening of the first negotiation cluster will not take place until Budapest changes its position.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Kyiv expects a clear signal from EU countries regarding Ukraine’s future membership in the bloc.
