Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is ready to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, including in Ankara. Kyiv has real proposals for ending the war, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said.
According to Sybiha, Ankara is one of the world's diplomatic capitals.
Moreover, it has repeatedly played an important role in resolving disputes between Kyiv and Moscow.
"We support Türkiye being one of the main platforms where a meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin could take place. We support this and are grateful to the Turkish side for its readiness to take on such a mission — organizing a meeting at such a high level," Sybiha emphasized.
According to the foreign minister, talks between the Ukrainian president and the Russian leader could provide a major boost to peace efforts.
"As for the Ukrainian side, in response to your question, we have real proposals for how to end this war. Ukraine wants peace. And we are committed to all peace efforts currently underway, including those involving the United States. We are counting on a new role for Europe in these peace efforts. Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire," Sybiha noted.
He also stressed that achieving a ceasefire could become a significant outcome of a meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin.
According to the diplomat, the situation is only getting worse for the Kremlin leader. Russia cannot ignore the fact that Ukraine has significantly strengthened its position on the battlefield.
"Ukraine is becoming increasingly successful in its asymmetric operations on Russian territory. And this entire combination of factors significantly strengthens our negotiating position. Therefore, now is the time to sit down at the negotiating table, make maximum use of diplomacy, and bring this war to an end," Sybiha concluded.
It was previously reported that people within Putin's inner circle support Ukraine's position on ending the war.
Moreover, it became known that members of the Kremlin leader's inner circle had proposed that he end the war along the current front line.
Sybiha also recently said that Ukraine no longer needs permission to strike targets inside Russia.
