Ukraine gets AWACS? Defense Minister thanks Sweden for ASC 890 aircraft

Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal thanked Sweden for transferring the ASC 890 radar reconnaissance aircraft and agreed on joint production of weapons, according to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson.
In particular, Shmyhal announced that Ukraine and Sweden had agreed on the joint production of defense products on the territory of both countries.
A letter of intent was signed during the visit of Swedish counterpart Pål Jonson to Kyiv on August 23.
The document creates conditions for the implementation of projects, exchange of technologies and experience in the production of weapons and military equipment, which strengthens the stability and self-sufficiency of the Ukrainian defense industry.
Shmyhal thanked Sweden for its support, in particular for joining the PURL initiative and allocating $486 million jointly with Norway and Denmark.
Representatives of Ukrainian intelligence informed their Swedish colleagues about the current situation on the battlefield and key needs.
"A separate topic is cooperation in the field of military aviation, in particular, the training of pilots and work on joint projects between Swedish and Ukrainian companies. I thanked the Swedish government, in particular, for the transfer of ASC 890 radar reconnaissance and control aircraft," the Defense Minister added.
RBC-Ukraine asked the Ministry of Defense press service for comment, but they have not yet confirmed the physical transfer of the aircraft.
What Pål Jonson says about his visit to Ukraine
The Swedish Minister confirmed on his social media page that an agreement had been signed on the joint production of military equipment in Sweden.
According to him, Ukraine will share technologies for its factories in Sweden, and the jointly produced military equipment will be exported to Ukraine. In addition, it will also be purchased for the Swedish army.
The transfer of the ASC 890 aircraft is not mentioned in Pål Jonson's statement.
Swedish ASC 890 aircraft
The ASC 890 (Airborne Surveillance and Control) is a combat platform based on the Saab 340 aircraft with a long radar on the roof.
The aircraft is equipped with two turboprop engines, has a length of 20.57 m, a wingspan of 21.44 m, and a height of 6.97 m.
The main feature of the air force version is the ASC 890 system with active electronically scanned array (AESA) technology, which allows dynamic adjustment of radar energy.
