The Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (HUR) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports have exposed another group of athletes, coaches, and sports officials actively participating in information and psychological operations against Ukraine.

According to the statement, these Russian sports figures support the Kremlin's aggressive policies while continuing to participate in the global sports community.

Among them are:

  • Yana Egorian – Russian fencer, lieutenant in the Russian Armed Forces, and vice president of the Fencing Federation of the Moscow Region. She competes for CSKA, which is affiliated with Russia's Ministry of Defense. Egorian is also an ambassador for the national civic movement promoting patriotic and athletic education, Zdorovoye Otechestvo ("Healthy Fatherland").

  • Alina Zagitova – Russian figure skater, correspondent and TV host on Channel One, and ambassador for the Russian oil company Tatneft. She has been known to visit the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea.

  • Kliment Kolesnikov – Russian swimmer, senior instructor in physical training and sports for the central district team of the Russian National Guard. He holds a military rank.

  • Yevgeny Baydusov – Russian Greco-Roman wrestler, participant in the 2023 CIS Games and the 2025 European Wrestling Championship in Albania. Member of Russia’s national Greco-Roman wrestling team. He has repeatedly used the Z symbol associated with Russia's invasion of Ukraine and has visited the temporarily occupied Crimea, publicly stating that he considers Simferopol and Crimea part of Russia.

  • Aram Grigoryan – Russian judoka, member of Russia’s national judo team and the Dynamo sports club. He has also participated in fundraising efforts for Russian military forces.

  • Ilya Burov – Russian freestyle skier, member of the Russian Olympic freestyle skiing team, enlisted in the sports unit, and an instructor at the Central Sports Club of the Russian Army.

Ukraineэs Intelligence and Ministry of Youth and Sports are calling on the international sports community to fully exclude Russian athletes from international competitions, expel them from international federations, and cease all cooperation with Russian representatives.

Sanctions relief for Russian athletes

Earlier, the International Olympic Committee supported the decision of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) to allow Russia's men's and women's national teams to participate in the 2026 Olympics.

This decision followed a partial easing of sanctions, particularly in skating disciplines, allowing Russian and Belarusian athletes to potentially compete in individual events under neutral status.

Previously, it was reported that Ukraine would boycott the World Judo Championships due to the presence of Belarusian symbols.
