Good news regarding the situation in Russian-occupied Oleshky in the Kherson region is expected next week. The issue was raised during yesterday's talks in Oslo; Davyd Arakhamia, head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction and a member of Ukraine's negotiating delegation, told RBC-Ukraine.

"God willing, there will be progress on the humanitarian front next week. The situation in Oleshky is very difficult. We discussed it yesterday, and the informal outcome of that meeting is that there should be good news next week," Arakhamia said.

The head of the Servant of the People faction in parliament did not disclose further details.

Yesterday, October 20, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff held talks in Oslo. However, Zelenskyy did not mention Oleshky after the meeting.

Crisis in Oleshky

Russian-occupied Oleshky in the Kherson region is on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe due to severe shortages of food, drinking water, and medicine.

Regular food supplies to the city stopped several months ago, and the lack of electricity and gas has deprived residents of basic living conditions. The situation is further complicated by mined roads and the constant threat of shelling.

Although Ukraine is delivering humanitarian aid to the city by drones, the situation remains critical.

Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets recently emphasized that Ukraine is coordinating with Russia on the final details of evacuating Oleshky residents. A ceasefire will be required for this.

He also noted that evacuations are planned from six other settlements near Oleshky.
