The Embassy of Ukraine in Poland appealed to the local police because of grain scattered by Polish farmers from Ukrainian grain elevators that were in transit to Lithuania. The police have already opened an investigation, according to the Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Zvarych.

"The Embassy and the Consulate General of Ukraine in Lublin immediately appealed to the Polish police to open a case on the fact of this shameful crime," he writes.

According to him, the Polish police opened proceedings and began the necessary procedures.

As the ambassador notes, such methods of protesters should not be tolerated in a European civilized country, "not to mention the moral side of this provocation."

"Therefore, we demand to find and bring the perpetrators to justice. The Polish authorities should respond decisively in the legal field to this shameful and offensive crime for Ukrainians and most Poles and prevent such barbaric actions in the future," Zvarych adds.

Polish farmers spilled Ukrainian grain

As a reminder, Polish farmers protesting near the Dorohusk checkpoint on the border with Ukraine spilled grain from three Ukrainian trucks on the road on February 11. The farmers began the blockade last week, demanding that the decision to grant Ukraine duty-free trade with the EU be canceled.

Earlier, from early November 2023 to mid-January 2024, Polish carriers blockaded several checkpoints on the border with Ukraine, demanding discriminatory measures against their Ukrainian counterparts, contrary to the European Commission's decision.

The blockade of the border could not but affect public opinion. In January 2024, less than half of Ukrainians maintain a positive attitude toward Poles.
