Ukraine elections require safe conditions – Zelenskyy

Ukraine is ready to hold elections. However, conditions must be ensured for this, primarily concerning security, said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a conversation with journalists at the White House.
"Yes, of course, we are open to elections. We have to create safety conditions and we need to work in the Parliament, because during the war you can't have elections," the head of state said.
Zelenskyy emphasized that for elections to be held in Ukraine a comprehensive ceasefire is needed – on the battlefield, in the sky, at sea.
US President Donald Trump also commented on the issue. He said: "During the war, you can't have elections."
The question about elections was asked by journalist Brian Glenn, chief White House correspondent for the show Real America's Voice. In February, at a meeting between Zelenskyy and Trump at the White House, it was he who asked the President of Ukraine when he would wear suits again.
Elections in Ukraine
Under Ukrainian law, elections are prohibited during martial law. According to polls, the majority of Ukrainians are against holding elections during the war.
In an interview with RBC-Ukraine, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, noted that Ukraine is preparing for elections after the end of martial law. According to him, these will be unique elections.
The Speaker added that after the end of martial law, it is planned to adopt a special law that will allow elections to be held and a return to the usual procedure defined by the Constitution.
