Ukraine cannot wait - Stoltenberg urged deliveries of air defense systems and ammunition
Ukraine cannot wait for assistance from its partners. Air defense and ammunition are needed as soon as possible, stated NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
"Delays in delivery of air defenses will allow Russian missiles to hit more targets and delays in delivery of ammunition will allow Russia to press along the front line. Ukraine simply cannot wait. It needs air defences, ammunition and aid now," said Stoltenberg.
Assistance to Ukraine
At the end of February, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the transfer of ten Patriot missile systems to Ukraine would significantly impact the situation in the war with Russia. He noted specifically that 25 systems with 6-8 batteries each are needed for full airspace coverage.
On April 4th, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba announced that Germany would initiate an immediate search for all available Patriot batteries and other air defense systems not only among allies but globally, to transfer them to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, France is preparing a new package of military assistance for Kyiv, which will include hundreds of armored vehicles and Aster anti-aircraft missiles.
Recently, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Czechia stated that within the initiative, Ukraine could receive 1.5 million shells instead of the previously planned 800,000.
