A full-scale defense system against enemy forces is being built around Odesa, the regional command of Ukraine's South Territorial Defense Forces stated.

The regional command of the South Territorial Defense Forces reported that a full-scale defense system is being built around the Ukrainian city of Odesa. These are preventive measures in case of any possible developments.

What exactly is being built

Large-scale engineering works are underway around the entire perimeter of the city. In particular, they are building:

  • Anti-tank trenches stretching for several kilometers;

  • Dugouts;

  • Barbed wire barriers;

  • "Dragon's teeth" — concrete blocks designed to obstruct the movement of military equipment.

The Odesa regional military administration emphasizes that this is not a reaction to a specific threat, but preparation. The goal is to have a ready defense line before it may be needed.

According to ISW, Russia and Belarus recently conducted joint nuclear exercises, practicing the movement of munitions and missile launches. Analysts believe that the Kremlin is increasingly using Belarusian territory for its military purposes.

During the massive strike on the night of May 24, Russia may have launched two Oreshnik missiles at once, one of which malfunctioned and fell in the occupied part of the Donetsk region.
