Ukraine attacks Russian university developing drone control systems in Belgorod

A major fire broke out at the Vladimir Shukhov Belgorod State Technological University (BSTU) in Belgorod after an overnight drone attack. The university had previously announced projects involving UAV control systems and the training of specialists in unmanned aerial systems, according to Exilenova+, Pepel Belgorod, and the ASTRA agency.
According to available information, the fire started after the drone attack. The published footage shows a large-scale fire on the territory of the educational institution.
Officially, Russian authorities have not yet reported on the consequences of the attack on the university. Throughout the night, the Belgorod regional operational headquarters repeatedly warned residents about the threat of drone attacks.
How the university was connected to UAVs
According to the university, Vladimir Shukhov Belgorod State Technological University developed an automated control system for unmanned aerial vehicles based on Russia's Milandr microprocessor. The university said the technology was intended solely for civilian applications, including power line inspections, heating pipeline monitoring, and aerial photography.

BSTU also participates in a Russian state program that trains specialists to operate unmanned aerial systems. The university educates UAV operators and specialists in drone maintenance, navigation, control systems, and data processing.

What else is known about the attacks on Russia
Over the past four days, Ukrainian drones have struck four oil refineries and a maritime terminal in Russia, inflicting significant damage.
On the night of July 31, Ukrainian drones also targeted several Russian regions. Among the reported targets were a Wildberries logistics hub and an oil refinery in Volgograd, hit by FP-1 drones.
Explosions were also reported in Kazan and Zelenodolsk. According to preliminary information, Wildberries facilities may have been among the targets.
