Tomorrow, April 11, Ukraine and the USA will hold technical consultations in Washington regarding the mineral resources agreement, Olha Stefanishyna, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, says during a press conference in Brussels.

According to Stefanishyna, the technical consultations will involve teams from Ukraine's Ministries of Justice and Economy.

"I am not in a position to discuss any details, because the meeting will only take place tomorrow, but I will be able to comment tomorrow," the Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister said.

In particular, Stefanishyna emphasized that nothing in the future agreement can be subject to negotiations with Ukraine that would "undermine existing commitments that Kyiv has, including financial ones, under the European macro-financial assistance program to Ukraine from the International Monetary Fund (IMF)."

Minerals deal

In February, Kyiv and Washington began discussing an agreement on rare earth metals. The first draft of the document was never signed.

Recently, the United States submitted a new draft of the agreement to Ukraine. The parties also held a technical online meeting regarding the document.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also stated that Ukraine would send a technical team to the United States for negotiations with American partners.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha noted that Ukraine has already finalized its position on a minerals deal with the United States.
