Ukraine and US hold first meeting on post-war recovery: Details

Ukraine and the United States have begun work on a post-war recovery document. The first meeting was held online, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Telegram and Oleksandr Bevz, an adviser in the Office of the President of Ukraine.
According to the head of the Ukrainian state, the US participants in the meeting included US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, US President’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and American financier Larry Fink.
"Essentially, this was the first meeting of the group that will work on a document regarding the recovery and economic reconstruction of Ukraine," he clarified.
Zelenskyy said that the meeting discussed key issues for reconstruction, various mechanisms, and visions. There are already many proposals that could work in Ukraine.
"We have also prepared the Ukrainian perspective on 20 basic points of a fundamental document for ending the war. Joint security will define the economic framework and shape a secure business climate," he stated.
The president also noted that the Ukrainian and American sides agreed to maintain further contacts. There will be no delays on Ukraine’s part.
Details from the Office of the President
After the meeting, Oleksandr Bevz, an adviser in the Office of the President of Ukraine, said that one of the key components of the framework for ending the war remains the economic recovery of Ukraine.
According to him, a working group led by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko has been created to prepare the part of the peace plan related to Ukraine’s economic recovery. Specific consultations are expected in the coming days.
He added that Ukraine has prepared its proposals for the 20-point peace plan on all issues.
Bevz also said that Ukraine has already prepared its vision for security guarantees and is discussing this issue with the guarantors.
New document
Today, December 10, the President of Ukraine already stated that Ukrainian officials, together with US counterparts, will begin work on a new document concerning the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
The head of state did not provide further details.
At the same time, Ukraine, together with European allies, has been working on updating the US peace plan. The document is expected to be submitted to Washington in the near future.
