A meeting was held between Ukraine’s Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and US representative Julie Davis. The two sides discussed key areas of further military and security cooperation between Ukraine and the United States, according to Fedorov’s post.

The minister thanked the United States for its comprehensive support for Ukraine, both military and diplomatic. He separately emphasized the importance of the PURL initiative, which provides Ukraine’s Defense Forces with critically needed weapons.

During the meeting, Fedorov briefed his counterpart on ongoing work with partners to extend the PURL program, as well as the US JUMPSTART mechanism, which ensures long-term supplies of US-made weapons. He stressed that protecting Ukraine’s airspace requires an urgent, clear forecast of air defense missile deliveries for this year, as well as stable supplies in the future.

Another topic discussed was joint analysis of the battlefield use of US weapons systems, particularly Patriot and HIMARS. According to Fedorov, studying combat experience will help improve these systems and increase their effectiveness on the battlefield.

The sides also discussed Ukraine’s need for laser-guided artillery munitions. Such munitions significantly increase strike accuracy and combat effectiveness, and Ukraine expects US support in this area.

Another priority was the implementation of the large-scale Drone Deal agreement. Ukraine is working to allow US partners to directly test Ukrainian-made drones while minimizing bureaucratic procedures.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Fedorov thanked Julie Davis for the constructive dialogue and stressed the importance of sustained US support for Ukraine.

Ukraine will need $15 billion worth of US weapons under the PURL initiative in 2026.

The US Senate is expected to pass the 2026 defense budget bill next week, which includes funding for assistance to Ukraine.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that without US support, Ukraine’s Defense Forces wouldn't be able to protect the country’s airspace.
