Ukraine and US discuss expanding joint defense industry projects - Ukraine's Minister of Economy

Ukraine and the United States have discussed expanding support for projects in Ukraine's defense industry, said Ukraine's Minister of Economy, Yuliia Svyrydenko.
"Our delegation met with US Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent. We talked about the US-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund, particularly about extending its mandate to support defense industry projects in Ukraine," Svyrydenko said.
According to her, the American side is open to such cooperation. Ukrainian delegates also urged their US counterparts to increase sanctions pressure on Russia.
"Another stronger sanctions package could undermine Putin's ability to continue his aggression," she added.
Joint production of weapons in Ukraine
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov revealed that during the latest Ramstein meeting, Ukraine and its partners discussed the joint construction of weapons manufacturing facilities.
According to the minister, member countries may build production plants in Ukraine, while Ukraine will build such facilities abroad. Umerov also noted that drones produced in Ukraine have already changed the nature of the war.
He added that a new initiative has been launched to jointly manufacture Ukrainian weapons in partner countries to meet Ukraine's defense needs.
