Ukraine and Lithuania join forces to boost critical infrastructure cybersecurity

Ukraine and Lithuania have signed a memorandum on strengthening cooperation in the field of critical infrastructure protection, according to the State Special Communications Service of Ukraine.
The document was signed by Oleksandr Potii, Head of the State Special Communications and Information Protection Service of Ukraine, and Vidmantas Kaladinskas, Chief Advisor to the Government Office of Lithuania.
The memorandum provides for the exchange of experience in the field of critical infrastructure protection planning and the holding of joint seminars and training sessions to share best practices in critical infrastructure protection.
Lithuania will also support Ukraine in improving its legislation on critical infrastructure protection, in particular through the implementation of modern international standards and the requirements of EU Directive 2022/2557 of December 14, 2022.
The parties emphasized the importance of such cooperation, especially in the context of war, and assured their support within the framework of the signed document.
In June, Ukraine's Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, said that Ukrainian state resources are subjected to thousands of cyberattacks every month.
"Believe me, the scale of cyberattacks is incredible. We are facing 100,000 attacks every month. The state is handling this challenge with dignity," Fedorov said.
