Diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Lebanon
Ukraine and Lebanon established diplomatic relations on December 8, 1993. Cooperation between the two countries covers political, economic and cultural spheres. Ukraine exports agricultural products to Lebanon, in particular grain, which is an important element of Lebanon's food security. Lebanon, in turn, supplies Ukraine with fruits, textiles, and stone products.
An important aspect of cooperation is the humanitarian sphere, in particular education. Every year, Ukrainian universities accept Lebanese students, and Lebanese educational institutions teach Ukrainian citizens the Arabic language and culture. In addition, there is a Ukrainian community in Lebanon that helps to strengthen cultural ties between the two nations. Despite the challenges posed by regional conflicts, Ukraine and Lebanon continue to develop friendly relations
In the summer, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine was one of the first countries in the world to evacuate its citizens from Lebanon.
In particular, on September 4, Ukraine evacuated 25 Ukrainian citizens from Lebanon - 14 women and 11 children. The evacuation was organized and conducted by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
