Senior officials from the US, Ukraine, and Europe are preparing to meet in the UK to coordinate their positions ahead of the Trump-Putin summit on peace in Ukraine, according to Axios.

Senior officials from the US, Ukraine, and several European countries plan to meet this weekend in the UK. The goal is to align a joint stance before the scheduled meeting between Presidents Trump and Putin, Axios was told by three sources familiar with the plans.

The idea for the meeting arose following several phone calls between US, Ukrainian, and European officials.

Ukraine and its NATO allies are concerned that Trump might accept Putin’s proposals to end the war without taking their interests into account.

It is currently known that Putin has agreed to stop the war if Ukraine relinquishes control over the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, as well as Crimea. Some participants in the negotiations also heard that Putin might be willing to give up claims to the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

At the same time, Ukrainian officials say they do not have complete information about the Russian proposal or the US position.

By the way, even if Zelenskyy agrees to some territorial concessions, he would have to hold a referendum, since under the Constitution of Ukraine, territories cannot be handed over without the will of the people.

Ending the war through Donald Trump’s mediation

There is speculation that during the meeting with US President Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin may present an ultimatum regarding Ukraine, demanding recognition of the occupied territories in exchange for the withdrawal of Russian troops from other regions.

Trump has already announced the date and location of his meeting with the Russian President.
