President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced on Telegram an agreement with Greece on gas supplies for Ukraine.
According to the head of state, this will provide another route for gas deliveries to ensure Ukraine has the most secure import pathways possible for the winter.
"We already have agreements on financing gas imports, and we will cover nearly 2 billion euros needed for gas imports to compensate for the losses in Ukrainian production caused by Russian strikes," Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
He stated that the Ukrainian government has allocated funds to finance imports, and there is also support from European partners and European banks, which are working under European Commission guarantees. Ukrainian banks and Norway are also contributing, and active cooperation with US partners continues, so full financing will be secured.
"We are creating broad opportunities for winter supplies," the president assured.
Gas for Ukraine
As reported by RBC-Ukraine, on November 13 European development banks and Naftogaz signed an agreement to provide the company with 127 million euros for gas purchases in the wake of Russian strikes on its infrastructure.
The European Investment Bank announced that Naftogaz will receive a 127-million-euro grant as part of a 300-million-euro loan that was announced last month.
Ukraine has suspended filling its underground gas storage facilities amid attacks on the energy system and due to the halt of gas imports through Poland.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolesnyk said that Ukraine had completed "99.5%" of its gas injection plan ahead of the heating season, but would continue imports due to declining production.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved an additional 8.4 billion hryvnias for gas imports during the 2025–2026 heating season.
