Ukraine investigates blast near Zhytomyr Highway after Russian attack injures six

The Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region, where a detonation occurred on the territory of an enterprise following a Russian strike on 28 August. The legality of the placement of explosive items will be examined, according to the Telegram channel of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.
The office reported that, preliminarily, on 28 August at around 20:10 Kyiv time, in the village of Myla in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region, a drone strike or crash landing occurred on the premises of an enterprise.
"A large-scale fire broke out on the site, followed by detonation. Emergency services and other response units are operating at the scene. As of 23:09, five casualties have been reported," the statement read.
The prosecutor's office added that a private residential building was destroyed in the Bucha district incident, and seven more houses were damaged. In addition, a fire truck and a nursing home were damaged.
"The investigation will establish not only all the circumstances of the Russian attack, but also the causes and conditions that may have significantly exacerbated its consequences. In particular, the legality of the placement and storage of explosive items and materials on the enterprise's premises, the availability of necessary permits and approvals, as well as the actions of officials who made the relevant decisions, will be scrutinised," the statement read.
Meanwhile, the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, stated that the large-scale fire had spread to private residential buildings. Firefighters have now extinguished the blazes in five houses and a catering facility.
According to him, 165 people have been evacuated so far. Meanwhile, the number of injured has risen to six.
What else to know
Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhii Koretskyi has already responded to the situation. He said that the recent tragedy in Vyshneve had not served as a lesson, hinting that the Russians may have struck a military depot in the village of Myla.
As is known, a similar situation had already occurred in the Kyiv region on 6 July, when Russian forces struck Vyshneve, triggering explosions and secondary detonations. It later emerged that the strike had hit an ammunition depot belonging to one of the Ukroboronprom enterprises.
