UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy has reacted to a Russian attack on an evacuation bus in the Sumy region.

He stressed that if Russian President Vladimir Putin is truly seeking peace, Moscow must immediately agree to a full ceasefire.

The UK Foreign Secretary wrote on X that the attack occurred just hours after talks in Türkiye.

Lammy emphasized that Ukraine has already agreed to a ceasefire. Therefore, Russia must do the same.

"If Putin is serious about peace, Russia must agree to a full and immediate ceasefire, as Ukraine has done," he wrote.

Russian attack on Bilopillia, Sumy region

On the morning of May 17, Russian forces targeted a passenger bus near Bilopillia in the Sumy region. The bus was evacuating civilians from the front-line area.

According to the head of the Bilopillia community, most of those killed were elderly women. Authorities are still working to identify some of the victims.

Investigators and explosive ordnance experts remain at the scene, documenting the aftermath of the drone strike. Their work is part of a broader effort to determine the circumstances of the attack and bring those responsible to justice.
