The UK has decided to provide Ukraine with additional assistance for its economic and defense needs. The support package will cover three years, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Ukraine to receive aid from Britain
Following a conversation with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, Zelenskyy announced a new support package for Ukraine worth 10 billion pounds (about $13.3 billion – ed.).
"£7 billion in economic support over the next three years, and another £3 billion in British export support, primarily for the supply of much-needed weapons that will strengthen our protection of lives," the president explained.
This assistance will be provided in addition to the annual support the UK already gives Ukraine.
Sanctions policy against Russia
The two sides also discussed sanctions against Russia.
"Britain will remain principled on this – setting an example that matters globally," Zelenskyy said.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Burnham wants to help Ukraine improve its relations with the United States.
In addition, the UK will speed up deliveries of Lightweight Multirole Missiles (LMM) to Ukraine, which are effective at shooting down jet-powered Shahed drones, and is preparing new sanctions against Russia.
