UK military uncovers Russian spy sensors tracking nuclear submarines

British military personnel discovered hidden Russian sensors in the waters surrounding the country. These sensors could have been used for espionage, targeting Britain's nuclear submarines, reports The Telegraph.
According to The Telegraph, the sensors were found after several of them washed up on the shore. The incident is now being treated as a potential national security threat.
The situation had not been disclosed earlier. Still, some media outlets have shared information suggesting that Russia attempted to gather intelligence on four British Vanguard submarines, which are equipped with nuclear missiles.
Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Kremlin has intensified surveillance and sabotage of underwater internet connections, energy pipelines, and military cables that are crucial to the West.
"There should be no doubt, there is a war raging in the Atlantic. This is a game of cat and mouse that has continued since the ending of the Cold War and is now heating up again. We are seeing phenomenal amounts of Russian activity," a senior British military official said
Russia's nuclear threat
Earlier, US intelligence concluded that Russian President Vladimir Putin could resort to using nuclear weapons if the war fails.
"Russia's inability to achieve quick and decisive victories on the battlefield, combined with Ukrainian strikes inside Russia, continues to raise concerns that Putin may use nuclear weapons," the document stated.
Additionally, it was reported that Russia is likely working on the development of a new satellite capable of carrying nuclear weapons
