British intelligence services are "urgently" investigating whether Russia indeed launched intercontinental ballistic missiles. Earlier, reports claimed that such a weapon was used in the strike on Dnipro, according to a statement from The Guardian.

Speaking anonymously, a representative of the British Prime Minister stated that the situation is developing rapidly, and intelligence services have launched an urgent investigation.

"As you will understand it is a rapidly developing situation and I don’t want to get ahead of our intelligence services who are looking at these reports urgently, but if true, clearly this would be another example of grave, reckless and escalatory behavior from Russia and only serves to strengthen our resolve," he said.

The news agency reminded that the Secretary of State for Defence John Healey had previously expressed a similar view.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer promised that the UK would "ensure Ukraine has what is needed for as long as needed."

"The UK’s support for Ukraine is always for self-defense. It is proportionate, coordinated and agile, and a response to Russia’s own actions, and it is in accordance with international law. Under Article 51 of the UN Charter, Ukraine has a clear right of self-defense against Russia's illegal attacks," he emphasized.

Russia used intercontinental ballistic missiles

It is reported that today, Russian military forces likely struck Ukraine with an intercontinental ballistic missile for the first time.

The Ukrainian Air Force emphasized that the Russian forces launched an intercontinental ballistic missile from the Astrakhan region for the first time. Additionally, Kinzhal missiles and seven Kh-101 cruise missiles were also fired.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the strike with a new intercontinental ballistic missile on Ukraine, stating that investigations are ongoing.
