UK Foreign Secretary to meet with US Secretary of State
Head of the UK Foreign Office David Cameron will meet with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken today, April 9, during a trip to Washington to pressure lawmakers in Congress and urge them to pass a package of aid to Ukraine, according to Reuters.
Last week, Cameron announced that he would meet with House Speaker Mike Johnson from the Republican Party and urge him to initiate a vote on the allocation of the necessary package of funds to Ukraine.
"Success for Ukraine and failure for Putin are vital for American and European security," Cameron said.
He also stressed the importance of demonstrating to Russian leaders that aggression does not pay off.
"The alternative would only encourage Putin in further attempts to re-draw European borders by force, and would be heard clearly in Beijing, Tehran and North Korea," he added.
The UK Foreign Office stated that Cameron would meet with leaders of Congress from both the Republican and Democratic parties.
During his visit to the US, the UK Foreign Secretary will also emphasize the importance of increasing economic pressure on Russia and providing Ukraine with the military and humanitarian support it needs to hold the line this year and move to offensive action in 2025.

Earlier, it became known that Cameron would visit the US and meet with House Speaker Mike Johnson to discuss aid to Ukraine.
The UK Foreign Secretary stated that the foreign ministers of European countries should pressure US House Speaker Mike Johnson to bring a bill on assistance to Ukraine for $60 billion to a vote.
Before his trip to the US, Cameron also called on other NATO countries to expedite the delivery of weapons to Ukraine, the expiration date of which is approaching.
He also said that Western countries need to push their finance ministries to allow the confiscation of Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine by any means.
