The UK Foreign Office has confirmed the cancellation of the US-European ministerial peace talks on Ukraine that were to take place today, The Guardian reports.

In a brief statement, the British Foreign Office said that the ministerial meetings, which were scheduled to begin this morning, will not take place and will be replaced by discussions between officials.

The talks were postponed after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he would not be able to attend in London.

The agency recalls a statement made late yesterday by Foreign Minister David Lammy after his conversation with Rubio.

Lammy said that his discussions with Rubio were productive, but hinted that they would take place at a slightly lower level. "Talks continue at pace and officials will meet in London tomorrow. This is a critical moment for Ukraine, Britain and Euro-Atlantic security," he wrote on X.

The UK paid great attention to the talks, which were also to be attended by delegations from France and Germany.

According to The Guardian, the downgrading of the discussions came amid leaks suggesting that Russia is ready to give up its territorial claims to three Ukrainian regions that it has only partially occupied in exchange for US recognition of the annexation of Crimea.

Meanwhile, a Ukrainian delegation has arrived in London. It includes the head of the Presidential Office, Andrii Yermak, and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. According to RBC-Ukraine, Kyiv is ready for talks, although US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will miss the meeting.
